Today I want to go over a few important reasons why you may not want to use your school photographer. Five things to be exact. I get a lot of inquiries from those wondering about their options for their senior shoot. I want to answer a lot of those questions and set a lot of things straight for you! I hope after reading this blog post you have a better understanding of your options for senior portraits, whether they be through your school photographer, me, or someone else. So here they are, five reasons why NOT TO use your school photographer!
One. COMPLETE CUSTOMIZATION! With me I can promise that your shoot is not cookie cutter! It will be like no one else’s in your student class! I customize every detail of your shoot from the locations, to your interests and hobbies, to helping you pick out your entire wardrobe! You will be involved in the entire planning process of your senior shoot, and when it is all said and done, I will have made sure that I have captured who YOU are. It is very important to me that your senior session is a fun experience for you and that your images are an amazing display of who you are and that they elisit your personality! Another great thing is that if you want your mom in your photos, your dog, or even your boyfriend, we make that happen! You receive complete customization start to finish!
Two. BOOK A “FRIENDS” SESSION! You can schedule your senior session with your friends and we can make it a fun day together. You will get a complimentary personal stylist and makeup artist for the day to glam you up! You also get a catered lunch! Most of all, you get a full day of shooting TOGETHER and beautiful images and memories to last a lifetime. I so wish I had a day like that with my friends my last year of high school! Man, that would be SO great to look back on!
Three. YOU SAVE MONEY! Who doesn’t want to save money? It is crazy how expensive your senior year can be! I mean, there is prom, college applications, and graduation invites and parties! All of the costs add up! I do think that your senior photo shoot is one of the most important aspects of your senior year, as it will capture you in this wonderful moment, forever! While my sessions may cost more up front, they are all inclusive, and I save you more in the long run and give you way more than anyone else! I also give you options! Have a smaller budget and want a smaller session? Great! My packages are designed with that in mind and you simply get to pick the size of the experience you are wanting, big or small!
Four. YOU GET YOUR DIGITAL FILES! I do not believe in holding your images hostage and so I give ALL of your digital files to you so that you have them forever. I would never make you spend thousands of dollars on products first to purchase the rights to them. I would never want someone to do that to me and so I would never do that to you. You get your files up front and if you want to purchase specialty products afterwards then great!
Five. BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE TO! This is one of the biggest misconceptions today. High School juniors and parents are led to believe that they HAVE to sign up for a full senior session with the photographer contracted by their high school in order to get their picture taken for the yearbook. This is simply not true. Yes, in order to have your picture in the yearbook, you have to use the school photographer. No, in order to have your picture in the yearbook, you do not have to schedule a full senior session with them. All you have to do is go to picture day in the fall (makeup day for those that did not have a full summer session) and have your photo taken with them on that picture day. This is the photo that will be in the yearbook. It is free and it costs zero money to you. You are free to schedule your senior session with any photographer you choose to do the rest! Those photos (from me or another photographer) can even be put in the senior dedication section of the yearbook by the parents if they so choose to do so.
So there it is! A lot of reasons why you don’t have to use the school photographer. You don’t have to use me, in fact, I only take a limited number of seniors each year, but now you know that you have options! To book your summer or fall session with me, be sure and do so soon!
