When I was contacted by my long lost 2nd cousin, who I hadn’t seen since we were kids, and she wanted me to come to Asheville to take pictures of her family, I was ecstatic! She told me that her family rarely had their pictures taken and that she loved my work and really wanted me to come out and do their next family session. I was all in for a fun weekend trip and the opportunity to shoot somewhere different while visiting family! I love Asheville, and I hadn’t seen her in probably 20 years, so I couldn’t wait! Let me just say that when I got there, I just fell in love with her family! The kiddos are hilarious and just too cute! And hanging out with her sweet daughter was like looking at her again 20 years ago because they look sooooo much alike! I had so much fun with them taking these family pictures. We shot first at the botanical gardens in Asheville. Can you say SPRING! Wow, look at the beautiful green and vibrant color! Then we shot a couple blocks from their own home, in town, where they walk to all the time to hang out, have breakfast, and frequent their favorite ice cream shop. This was so neat to be able to capture them in their own town, walking down the streets, and hanging out on the bench in front of the ice cream shop. I love that I was able to capture these memories that have so much meaning behind them. I know I always think back to my childhood….the street I grew up on, the restaurant we went to all the time. Memories are so different when you are young and I think it is fantastic that they will have these memories of their childhood town in photographs to look back on forever. Thank you Nichole for a wonderful weekend and the tour of Asheville and all of your favorite spots! Your family is fantastic! Hope to hang out again with you all real soon.
Oh, and check out this amazing loft downtown Asheville that my bestie found for us to stay in while in town. It was brand spanking new and we were the very first people to even stay in this room. We also got a fabulous discount because it was so new they weren’t even taking credit cards yet! Lol. It made for and even more fabulous weekend and we were within walking distance to all the best shops and restaurants! If you are ever in town you should check it out, The Windsor Hotel! It is a must to do again! Simply fantastic time!
Oh my gosh and the food in Asheville is just glorious! Some of the best food I have EVER had! I WILL go back to Asheville just for the food! Lol.
And a little iphone selfie : )
