Yes, I know….FINALLY! The moment I know several of you have been waiting for! The nursery’s BIG reveal. : ) After months of work on a new space for baby, today I am finally showing it off!
For those of you who don’t know, there has been lots of rearranging going on around our home the last few months and lots of special projects! My hubby will probably be thrilled when Noah arrives just so my ideas and projects slow down a bit. Haha. When Carlee was born we had her nursery in the downstairs bedroom, which seemed like a good idea at the time. Months of running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night with an infant ended up not being too much fun after all. Last year we moved her into a big girl room next to Andrew’s but we had to sacrifice our spare bedroom to do so.
So with the expecting of a new baby in the home I really wanted all of us to be on the second story of our home somehow. With only three bedrooms upstairs, and all being occupied, this was a perplexing challenge. Haha. I also had big plans for the old nursery downstairs if I could figure out how to successfully move it! {More to come on those big plans soon! } So, then, the big idea happened! And oh my husband just loves those. : ) We had this open space at the top of our stairs that we never really used much. It had a desk and our old computer but that was about it. It usually just attracted stuff! So what if we closed that space in? Built a wall and put up a pair of french doors? Walla! Insta room!
I was really excited at my bright idea but the hubs wasn’t as thrilled as I. He actually thought I had lost a tiny piece of my mind with the talk of building walls {until his friend came over and backed up my idea, lol}. Then he started to give in a bit, and before you knew it, we were building a wall! Now, I won’t go into the details of how “fun” that ended up being, lol, but we now have a new useable space and I absolutely LOVE it! It is a fairly small space, but for a nursery, we don’t really need much. I have had to be creative on the storage end of things by using baskets, being really organized with the dresser, and the use of an under crib storage container. A lot of the items in the new nursery we already had and are reused or repurposed along with a few new pieces that I feel brought our new nursery together. One of my favorite new pieces being the chandelier! For some reason, I have always wanted a nursery with a chandelier. I love how it turned out and I have to thank my husband for giving into my “CRaZy” idea! Thanks babe! : )
The Old Space
The New Nursery!!!
Thanks to Tim’s sister for giving us the glider! It is so nice! And my new chandelier really pulls the new space together! I love the light in this room and it also has the best view in the house! Where were these awesome blankets when I had my 1st two kiddos? They are soooooo thin and so so soft! I also adore Noah’s new little hat from my mom and the little blue shoes were Andrew’s! : ) All the baskets and boxes are reused from our old nursery. They worked out perfectly on the bookcase, with the addition of one new large basket from my bestie Jess, all perfect for storage!I always buy one favorite item that becomes my focal point of design for a new space. This adorable baby mobile was it! Once I set my eyes on it, I knew what the colors of my nursery would be. These were a gift from my sweet mom and so were the crib sheets and plush blanket. I love the simplicity of it all. Some of you may notice this chair…it is a favorite amongst my photo props! : ) The N is a new addition. Found this jewel at old time pottery and just had to get it! Can’t wait to fill my frames! These shoes were Carlee’s! Thank you Jules for the darling Sophie the Giraffe! I found this antique dresser in poor shape for a bargain and with Tim’s help in rebuilding the shelves repurposed it for the changing table and some storage. I was really excited about how it turned out and it really makes the room! I adore this new gown from my dear friend Jess. Isn’t it adorable! We found this wire hanging basket and spray painted it to add some additional storage space above the changing table for diapers and other stuff. The Old blue teether is Tim’s from when he was a baby. Some favorite books the kiddos picked out for him along Andrew and Carlee’s hospital hats and Noah’s first picture. : ) This was Carlee’s bear. And hanging on the wall is Andrew’s very 1st pair of shoes. Carlee likes to come in here all the time and read. She says she is going to read to baby Noah. This happened as I was snapping some pictures of the Nursery! The many faces of Carlee : )
Hope you have enjoyed seeing Noah’s room! Next time you see it, he will be sleeping in it! Eleven days or less and counting!!!
