As I start to ponder the thoughts of our sweet Carlee bug turning six next week, I begin to think about how it seems like just yesterday she turned five! And we did this gorgeous shoot with a flowy pink dress that she was head over heels with because it was pink and she could twirl! And of course, there was the carousel horse that I picked up at an antique market that we hand-painted together. And we had so much fun! And then things got busy and an entire year of life has gone by. And now she will be six. And things are still busy. It’s a never-ending cycle and our babies grow so fast. No matter what I do I can’t stop them from growing, except documenting the age through pictures. You know what is sad, is that I don’t take the time to do my own personal photos and that these have sat on my hard drive for the past year not being edited, printed, or even being seen. That’s not what I had planned, and that is so not cool! And then I realized that is what has happend to so many of clients’ beautiful images, and that makes me sad. Gorgeous portraits are not meant to sit on a usb or hard drive somewhere not being seen. They are meant to be printed on gorgeous archival paper that last a lifetime so that 120 years from now our great great great grandchildren will say, WOW! Look how beautiful my great great great grandmother was when she was five. How cool is that?! That is what drives me in this little business of mine, so why am I not taking time to do it myself? So…I am digging these images off my hard drive this morning, and I am going to get a huge printed portrait of her up on her bedroom wall for her birthday, in her favorite pink dress, just as we had planned, and that portrait will live forever! And she will be so excited! I feel like I am failing in so many areas, and can’t keep up some days, but I am doing the best that I can. Any other mom feel like that? Sigh. Now I just need to pick a favorite, or two, or three to print! Heck I may have to add this entire shoot to our album collection because I love it that much! I also love this shoot so much, and had so much fun doing it, that I have decided to dust off that old carousel horse in a few weeks and reenact this fairy tale shoot for some other special little girls. I even have a few dresses to choose from, glitter and all! I will be releasing a very limited number of spots soon! And I know everyone has been wondering…I will also be opening up some limited family sessions for fall and Christmas as well! Contact me here to get on the email list if you want more info on this fun-styled session or on fall sessions!
