WOW! Is it really that time of year? Did summer go by that fast? I can’t believe Mr. Andrew will be in the 1st grade! Where did my little kindergartener go? Those days and that very first year are already over and long gone. Our Pastor Phil always says, “the days go by slow but the years fast,” and boy does that statement ring true! When a child gets dedicated at our church the parents are given a bag of 6205 marbles that represents every day that you have with them until their 18th birthday. That is really not a lot when you think about it! Its not enough for me. As parents, we have very limited time to disciple them and guide them in the right direction while at home. I really enjoy summers. Not because I get to sleep in (well I really really do enjoy that part) or take some extravagant vacation…. its because I get to spend QUALITY time with my children. Every day is relaxed and we are not rushing around from school to work to errands to naps to dinner to sports to work etc etc. We wake up and lay around watching cartoons, build a castle with legos, put together a puzzle, and have great conversations! I am not ready for that to end and therein lies my struggle! I am going to try my hardest to hang on to those moments more amongst this hustle and bustle of life. If I don’t, the years will continue to go by way too fast. I want to slow them down and cherish them the best that I can. Relish every moment! I want to remember my children at this age, at every milestone! Does anyone else feel panicked at times thinking its all going to fast? I have been slacking in capturing their milestones in photos as well. How else do we remember all these moments if we don’t get them in pictures! I get so busy with my work and capturing every one else’s special moments and I forget to capture my own. So here is me capturing Andrew’s milestone of entering the 1st grade. All 52 lbs and 49 inches of him! I love this little boy to death! He may be quirky and a tad high strung, but I love every little string of his. : ) May he always have the confidence to be himself, to be different, to reach for the stars, and to never let anyone try to tell him any different.
